Medicine overview

Zocon-AS Kit is an oral combination medicine from FDC Limited containing fluconazole, azithromycin, and secnidazole. The three medicines provide antifungal, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal activity, respectively. The combination is used for syndromic treatment of vaginal discharge when more than one type of infectious organism may be involved. The kit contains separate tablets rather than all three active ingredients in a single tablet, so it should be used exactly according to the prescribed instructions.

What it is used for

Zocon-AS Kit is used for the syndromic treatment of vaginal discharge associated with genital infection. Fluconazole treats susceptible fungal infection, azithromycin acts against susceptible bacteria, and secnidazole has activity against susceptible anaerobic bacteria and protozoa. Because vaginal discharge can have infectious and non-infectious causes, this prescription combination should be used for the condition for which it was prescribed rather than for unexplained vaginal symptoms without medical assessment.

How it works

The three components act in different ways. Fluconazole is a triazole antifungal that interferes with fungal cell-membrane sterol synthesis. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, limiting the growth of susceptible bacteria. Secnidazole is a nitroimidazole antimicrobial active against susceptible anaerobic organisms and protozoa. Combining these activities provides coverage for several infectious causes that may be considered during syndromic management of vaginal discharge.

How it is taken

Zocon-AS is taken by mouth. The verified pack contains separate fluconazole, azithromycin, and secnidazole tablets, so follow the prescriber's directions for how the individual tablets in the combikit should be taken. Do not substitute a different strength or combination kit, and do not repeat treatment or alter the prescribed regimen without medical advice.

Important warnings

Do not use the medicine if there is a known serious hypersensitivity to fluconazole, azithromycin, secnidazole, related azole/macrolide/nitroimidazole medicines, or product ingredients. Fluconazole and azithromycin can both affect cardiac electrical conduction and have warnings concerning QT prolongation; particular caution is appropriate with existing QT prolongation, significant heart disease, electrolyte abnormalities, or other QT-prolonging medicines. Fluconazole and azithromycin can cause serious liver injury, while severe allergic and serious skin reactions are also possible. Secnidazole is contraindicated in people with Cockayne syndrome. Seek urgent medical attention for fainting or an abnormal heartbeat, severe allergic symptoms, extensive blistering or peeling rash, or signs of significant liver injury such as jaundice.

Side effects and monitoring

Common effects associated with the components include nausea, diarrhea or loose stools, abdominal discomfort, vomiting, headache, dizziness, indigestion, and altered or metallic taste. Secnidazole can also be associated with vulvovaginal candidiasis. Less common but important reactions include severe allergy, serious skin reactions, liver injury, QT prolongation or dangerous abnormal heart rhythms, and antibiotic-associated Clostridioides difficile diarrhea. Medical attention is needed for severe or persistent diarrhea, jaundice, fainting or palpitations, severe rash, facial or throat swelling, or breathing difficulty.

Pregnancy

Use during pregnancy requires medical assessment. Human pregnancy data for secnidazole are limited, while fluconazole labeling describes potential fetal risk and advises avoiding its use in pregnancy except where the clinical circumstances justify treatment. Because Zocon-AS contains multiple medicines, do not assume that safety information for one component establishes safety of the complete combination.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is not recommended during secnidazole treatment and for 96 hours after secnidazole administration according to current prescribing information. Azithromycin is present in human milk, and breastfeeding infants should be monitored for effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, or rash when maternal azithromycin is used. Because Zocon-AS contains both medicines plus fluconazole, breastfeeding use should be discussed with the prescriber.

Food, drink and interactions

Avoid alcoholic beverages and products containing ethanol or propylene glycol while taking secnidazole and for at least 2 days afterward. Concomitant exposure has been associated with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and headache.

Food and drink

Secnidazole itself may be administered without regard to meals, but this does not establish food instructions for the complete Zocon-AS combination. Avoid alcohol as described in the alcohol warning.

Storage

Store below 30°C. Keep the medicine in its original packaging and away from children.

Frequently asked questions

Why might one treatment contain fluconazole, azithromycin, and secnidazole?

The three medicines act against different types of susceptible microorganisms: fungi, bacteria, and anaerobic bacteria or protozoa. This combination is used in syndromic treatment when vaginal discharge may involve more than one infectious cause.

What if vaginal discharge or itching does not improve after treatment?

Persistent or recurrent symptoms need medical assessment rather than automatically repeating the kit. Vaginal symptoms can have different infectious and non-infectious causes, and further examination or testing may be needed.

Can Zocon-AS Kit cause another yeast infection?

Secnidazole treatment has been associated with vulvovaginal candidiasis, while fluconazole in the kit is itself an antifungal. New, persistent, or recurrent symptoms should therefore be assessed rather than assumed to have one particular cause.

Can I drink alcohol after taking Zocon-AS Kit?

Avoid alcohol during secnidazole treatment and for at least 2 days afterward. Alcohol taken around secnidazole may be associated with nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, and headache.

Why are there four tablets when the kit has three active ingredients?

The verified pack contains one fluconazole 150 mg tablet, one azithromycin 1000 mg tablet, and two secnidazole 1000 mg tablets. Together, these make one four-tablet combikit.

Does Zocon-AS Kit have heart-rhythm precautions?

Yes. Fluconazole and azithromycin both carry warnings about QT prolongation, an electrical change that can increase the risk of abnormal heart rhythms in susceptible people. Tell the prescriber about heart disease, electrolyte problems, and all other medicines you take.

Can Cheap Generic Med ship Zocon-AS Kit to the United States?

Cheap Generic Med serves the United States under its international shipping model. Delivery is typically estimated at 10–14 business days after dispatch, but customs or carrier delays can extend transit, and prescription and import requirements may apply.

Will my Cheap Generic Med order have tracking?

Under the standard fulfilment model, tracked international shipping is used and a tracking number should be provided after dispatch. Carrier systems may take 24–72 hours to begin showing movement.
