Medicine overview

Evatone 2 Tablet is an oral estrogen medicine manufactured by Serum Institute of India. The manufacturer's product information identifies Evatone-2 as an estradiol valerate tablet. Each tablet contains 2 mg of estradiol valerate, an estrogen that is converted to estradiol in the body. Estrogen replacement therapy can relieve symptoms caused by reduced estrogen levels around and after menopause. Treatment requires medical supervision because oral estrogen has important contraindications and risks, including blood clots and certain estrogen-sensitive cancers.

What it is used for

Estradiol valerate is used as hormone replacement therapy for symptoms related to estrogen deficiency in peri- and postmenopausal women. These can include hot flushes, sweating and other troublesome menopausal symptoms. Estrogen therapy may also be used to help prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis in selected women at significant fracture risk when other approved treatments are unsuitable. The appropriate reason for using Evatone depends on the patient's medical assessment and prescription.

How it works

Estradiol valerate is an ester of estradiol and acts as a prodrug, meaning the body converts it into active estradiol. Estradiol replaces some of the estrogen that falls as ovarian function declines. This helps reduce estrogen-deficiency symptoms associated with menopause. Estrogen also slows the increased bone turnover that occurs after menopause, which can help limit loss of bone mineral density while treatment continues.

How it is taken

Evatone 2 Tablet is taken by mouth and should be used exactly according to the prescribed regimen. Oral estradiol valerate tablets can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet with liquid. Do not increase, reduce, stop, or otherwise change prescribed estrogen treatment without medical guidance. The lowest effective estrogen dose for the appropriate treatment goal is generally used, with periodic review of whether treatment remains necessary.

Important warnings

Do not use systemic estrogen in patients with known, previous or suspected breast cancer; known or suspected estrogen-dependent cancer; unexplained genital bleeding; untreated endometrial hyperplasia; current or previous unexplained venous thromboembolism such as deep-vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism; known thrombophilic disorders; active or recent arterial thromboembolic disease such as angina or myocardial infarction; acute or significant unresolved liver disease; porphyria; or hypersensitivity to the medicine. Estrogen-only therapy increases the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer in women with an intact uterus; an appropriate progestogen is commonly required to reduce this risk. Systemic HRT is associated with risks including venous thromboembolism, ischemic stroke and, depending on regimen and duration, breast and ovarian cancer. Seek urgent medical attention for painful leg swelling, sudden chest pain, unexplained shortness of breath, or symptoms suggesting stroke. Treatment should be reviewed if jaundice, worsening liver function, a substantial rise in blood pressure, or a new migraine-type headache develops. Medicines that induce or inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes, certain HIV/HCV medicines, lamotrigine, St John's wort, and grapefruit juice may interact with estrogen therapy.

Side effects and monitoring

Commonly reported effects of oral estrogen/HRT include headache, nausea, abdominal discomfort or bloating, breast tenderness or pain, changes in vaginal bleeding or spotting, changes in vaginal discharge, fluid retention, and weight changes. Other reported effects include migraine, dizziness, vomiting, skin reactions, leg cramps, gallbladder disease, hypertension and mood or libido changes. Serious risks include venous thromboembolism, stroke, myocardial infarction, severe allergic reactions, and estrogen-sensitive cancers. Unexpected or persistent vaginal bleeding requires medical assessment. Periodic clinical review is recommended, with breast screening and other examinations based on age, risk factors and local screening guidance.

Pregnancy

Estradiol valerate HRT is not indicated during pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs during treatment, the medicine should be stopped and the prescribing clinician contacted.

Breastfeeding

Estradiol valerate HRT is not indicated during breastfeeding.

Food and drink

Oral estradiol valerate tablets may be taken with or without food. Grapefruit juice can inhibit CYP3A4 and may increase estrogen concentrations, so patients should discuss grapefruit consumption with their prescriber or pharmacist.

Frequently asked questions

Is Evatone 2 the same as a 2 mg estradiol tablet?

Evatone-2 is identified by its manufacturer as an estradiol valerate tablet. Estradiol valerate is converted to estradiol in the body, but the exact chemical ingredient should still be recorded as estradiol valerate rather than treating different estradiol formulations as interchangeable.

Can I take Evatone 2 with food?

Yes. Oral estradiol valerate tablets can be taken with or without food.

What happens if I forget an estrogen tablet?

Missed-dose instructions can depend on the specific product and prescribed regimen. Do not take extra tablets to compensate unless the product instructions or your healthcare professional specifically tell you to do so.

Why might progesterone be prescribed with an estrogen tablet?

In women who still have a uterus, estrogen used alone can stimulate the uterine lining and increase the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer. An appropriate progestogen is commonly added to reduce this risk.

Can oral estradiol cause spotting or breast tenderness?

Yes. Breast tenderness and changes in vaginal bleeding, including spotting or breakthrough bleeding, are reported with oral estrogen therapy. Unexpected, persistent, or postmenopausal bleeding should be medically assessed.

Does Evatone 2 work as contraception?

No. Estradiol valerate used as HRT should not be relied on as contraception.

What symptoms while taking oral estrogen need urgent medical attention?

Seek urgent medical care for sudden chest pain, unexplained shortness of breath, painful swelling of a leg, or symptoms of a stroke. These can indicate serious complications such as a blood clot.

Can I drink grapefruit juice while taking estradiol valerate?

Grapefruit juice can inhibit CYP3A4 and may increase estrogen concentrations. Discuss regular grapefruit consumption with your prescriber or pharmacist.

Can Cheap Generic Med ship Evatone to the United States?

Cheap Generic Med lists the United States among the destinations it serves, but shipping availability does not establish that a medicine can legally be imported in every circumstance. Prescription and personal-import requirements may apply.

Is Evatone 2 a prescription medicine?

Yes. Evatone 2 is treated as a prescription medicine and should be used under medical supervision.
