Medicine overview

Esurance Tablet is an oral hormone medicine containing 2 mg of estradiol, an estrogen that is chemically equivalent to the main estrogen produced by the ovaries. It is used as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), particularly for menopausal symptoms and conditions caused by low estrogen levels. Estradiol can relieve symptoms such as hot flushes and vaginal discomfort. It may also be prescribed to help prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis in appropriately selected patients when estrogen therapy is considered suitable.

What it is used for

Esurance is mainly used to replace estrogen when natural estrogen levels are reduced. Oral estradiol is indicated for moderate to severe menopausal vasomotor symptoms, such as hot flushes, and symptoms of vulvar and vaginal atrophy. It can also treat hypoestrogenism associated with hypogonadism or primary ovarian failure and may be used to prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis in selected patients at significant risk. Estradiol also has specialist palliative uses in certain breast and prostate cancers.

How it works

Estradiol is the principal biologically active estrogen in humans. It binds to estrogen receptors and produces effects in estrogen-responsive tissues, replacing some of the hormone no longer produced in sufficient amounts. Restoring estrogen activity can reduce menopausal vasomotor symptoms and symptoms caused by estrogen deficiency. Estrogen also helps limit the increased bone turnover associated with estrogen loss after menopause, which is why estradiol may have a role in osteoporosis prevention in appropriately selected patients.

How it is taken

Esurance is taken by mouth. Swallow the tablet with water and follow the schedule prescribed by the treating clinician; do not change the amount or frequency without medical advice. Oral estradiol can generally be taken with or without food. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose; in that case, skip the missed dose and do not double the next dose.

Important warnings

Do not use estradiol in patients with undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding, known or suspected estrogen-dependent cancer, active or previous deep-vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, recent arterial thromboembolic disease such as stroke or myocardial infarction, significant liver disease, known hypersensitivity to the product, or known or suspected pregnancy. Estrogen therapy is associated with important risks including endometrial cancer, blood clots, stroke and cardiovascular events; some risks differ according to whether estrogen is used alone or with a progestogen. In patients with a uterus, unopposed estrogen increases the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer, so the need for a progestogen should be assessed by the prescriber. Extra caution may be required with hypertension, high triglycerides, migraine, gallbladder disease, thyroid disorders, fluid-retaining conditions and before surgery or prolonged immobilisation. Seek urgent medical attention for sudden chest pain or breathlessness, coughing blood, painful or swollen leg, sudden neurological symptoms, sudden vision loss, or severe allergic reaction. Unexpected or persistent vaginal bleeding needs medical assessment.

Side effects and monitoring

Common effects of systemic estrogen can include breast pain or tenderness, abdominal discomfort, nausea or vomiting, bloating, leg cramps, dizziness, fluid retention and vaginal bleeding or discharge. Serious effects can include venous blood clots, pulmonary embolism, stroke, cardiovascular events, significant liver or gallbladder problems, severe allergic reactions and visual disturbances. Unusual vaginal bleeding, a breast lump, jaundice, sudden severe headache or neurological symptoms, chest pain, breathlessness, leg swelling, or sudden changes in vision require prompt medical assessment. Ongoing treatment should be periodically reviewed, with monitoring guided by individual risk factors and clinical circumstances.

Pregnancy

Estradiol tablets are not indicated during pregnancy. Known or suspected pregnancy is listed as a contraindication for oral estradiol therapy. If pregnancy occurs while taking HRT, stop the HRT and contact the treating clinician for advice.

Breastfeeding

Estrogen HRT is not usually prescribed while breastfeeding because information on its use during breastfeeding is limited. A specialist may recommend it in particular circumstances, so breastfeeding patients should discuss treatment with their clinician.

Food, drink and interactions

Alcohol is not specifically prohibited with estrogen HRT. However, reducing alcohol intake may help lessen menopausal flushing and improve sleep, and individual health risks may make additional restrictions appropriate.

Food and drink

Estradiol tablets may generally be taken with or without food, and ordinary food and drink do not usually need to be avoided. MedlinePlus advises discussing grapefruit or grapefruit juice with the treating clinician while taking oral estrogen.

Storage

Store below 30°C. Keep the tablets out of the reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need progesterone as well as estradiol if I still have my uterus?

Often, yes. Using systemic estrogen without a progestogen in someone with an intact uterus increases the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial cancer. The prescriber should decide what endometrial protection is appropriate.

What should I do if I forget an Esurance tablet?

Take the missed dose when you remember unless it is nearly time for the next one. If the next dose is due soon, skip the missed tablet and continue the usual schedule; do not take a double dose.

Can I take Esurance with food?

Yes. Oral estradiol can generally be taken with or without food. Follow any specific instructions supplied with your prescription.

Can I drink alcohol while taking estradiol?

Alcohol is not specifically prohibited with estrogen HRT. Reducing alcohol may nevertheless help with hot flushes and sleep during menopause.

Does estradiol HRT work as birth control?

No. Estrogen used as HRT is not a contraceptive, so contraception may still be needed when pregnancy remains possible.

What symptoms need urgent medical attention while taking estradiol?

Seek urgent medical care for sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing blood, painful leg swelling, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking, sudden vision loss, or a severe allergic reaction. Unexpected vaginal bleeding should also be assessed promptly.

Can Esurance be used during pregnancy?

No. Estradiol tablets are not indicated during pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs while using HRT, stop the HRT and contact your clinician.

Can Cheap Generic Med ship Esurance internationally?

Cheap Generic Med serves multiple international destinations, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Shipping availability does not establish that personal import is permitted; prescription and import requirements can vary by destination and individual circumstances.

How long does international delivery usually take?

For the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, the standard estimate is 10–14 business days after dispatch. This is not a guaranteed arrival time, and customs or local postal delays can extend delivery.
