Medicine overview
Ralocium 60 Mg Tablet contains raloxifene, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). The product is manufactured by Bal Pharma Limited and is used for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Raloxifene acts like estrogen in certain tissues, particularly bone, helping reduce the bone loss that can occur after menopause. Ralocium is an oral tablet containing 60 mg of raloxifene. The medicine requires medical supervision because raloxifene can increase the risk of venous blood clots.
What it is used for
Ralocium is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in women who have gone through menopause. Raloxifene helps maintain bone mineral density and has been shown to reduce the incidence of vertebral fractures. Raloxifene is also approved in some jurisdictions to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in certain postmenopausal women, but it does not treat existing invasive breast cancer or prevent its recurrence.
How it works
Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator, or SERM. This means it can produce estrogen-like effects in some tissues while blocking estrogen effects in others. In bone, its estrogen-like activity reduces the increased bone breakdown associated with menopause and helps preserve bone density. In breast tissue, raloxifene acts mainly as an estrogen antagonist, which explains its separate role in reducing invasive breast cancer risk in appropriately selected postmenopausal women.
How it is taken
Ralocium is taken by mouth. Raloxifene 60 mg is generally administered once daily and can be taken at any time of day, with or without food. Take the medicine according to the prescribing clinician's instructions and do not change or stop treatment without medical advice. For osteoporosis, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake should be considered when dietary intake is insufficient.
Important warnings
Do not use raloxifene if you currently have or previously had venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or retinal vein thrombosis. Raloxifene increases the risk of venous blood clots. Prolonged immobility further increases this risk; official prescribing information advises discontinuing raloxifene at least 72 hours before and during prolonged immobilization, with treatment restarted only when the patient is fully mobile. An increased risk of death from stroke has also been observed in postmenopausal women with coronary heart disease or increased risk of major coronary events. Seek urgent medical attention for unexplained leg pain or swelling, sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, or sudden vision changes. Cholestyramine can substantially reduce raloxifene absorption and should not be used with it. Patients taking warfarin or similar highly protein-bound anticoagulants may require closer monitoring when raloxifene is started or stopped.
Side effects and monitoring
Common effects can include hot flashes, leg cramps, swelling of the hands or lower limbs, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, sweating, headache, and gastrointestinal symptoms. The most important serious adverse effect is venous thromboembolism, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Seek immediate medical attention for leg swelling or warmth, sudden chest pain, breathlessness, coughing up blood, or sudden visual disturbance. Breast examinations and mammography should continue according to appropriate clinical screening recommendations when raloxifene is being used for breast-cancer risk reduction.
Pregnancy
Raloxifene is contraindicated during pregnancy. It is intended for use in postmenopausal women and may cause fetal harm if administered during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding
Raloxifene is not intended for use in breastfeeding women. Official prescribing information states that it should not be used by nursing mothers; whether raloxifene is excreted in human milk is not established.
Food and drink
Raloxifene may be taken with or without food. For osteoporosis management, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake is important; dietary sources or supplementation may be advised when intake is insufficient.
Storage
Store raloxifene tablets at room temperature, protected from excess heat and moisture, and keep them in their original tightly closed container and out of reach of children.
Frequently asked questions
Will raloxifene actually improve my bone density?
Raloxifene helps prevent bone loss after menopause and can increase or maintain bone mineral density. Its established osteoporosis benefit includes reducing the risk of vertebral fractures.
Can Ralocium cause hot flashes or sweating?
Yes. Hot flashes and increased sweating are recognized adverse effects of raloxifene, and hot flashes may be more noticeable during the first months of treatment.
How worried should I be about blood clots while taking raloxifene?
Raloxifene increases the risk of venous blood clots, so this is an important safety consideration. It must not be used by women with a current or previous venous thromboembolism, and urgent medical assessment is needed for symptoms such as leg swelling, sudden chest pain or shortness of breath.
What should I do about raloxifene before surgery or a long period of immobility?
Official prescribing information recommends stopping raloxifene at least 72 hours before and during prolonged immobilization because immobility increases the risk of venous blood clots. Treatment should be resumed only after the patient is fully mobile.
Does raloxifene reduce breast cancer risk as well as treating osteoporosis?
Raloxifene is approved to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in certain postmenopausal women, including women with osteoporosis. It does not treat existing invasive breast cancer, prevent recurrence, or reduce the risk of noninvasive breast cancer.
Can I take Ralocium with food?
Yes. Raloxifene can be taken with or without food and at any time of day. Follow the prescribed instructions consistently.
Can Cheap Generic Med ship Ralocium to the United States?
Cheap Generic Med serves the United States under its international shipping model. Delivery is typically estimated at 10–14 business days after dispatch, but customs and carrier delays can extend transit; prescription and personal-import requirements may also apply.
Will my Ralocium order have tracking?
Under Cheap Generic Med's standard fulfilment model, tracked international shipping is used and a tracking number should be provided after dispatch. New tracking information may take 24–72 hours to appear in the carrier system.
