Medicine overview

Bdolenic 4 mg Injection contains zoledronic acid, a medicine from the bisphosphonate class. The verified product is manufactured by BDR Pharmaceuticals Internationals Pvt. Ltd. and supplied as a 4 mg injection in a single vial. Zoledronic acid reduces excessive breakdown of bone by osteoclasts, the cells responsible for removing old bone. The 4 mg intravenous formulation is used particularly in cancer-related high blood calcium and bone complications associated with multiple myeloma or solid tumors that have spread to bone.

What it is used for

Zoledronic acid 4 mg intravenous formulations are used to treat hypercalcemia of malignancy, meaning abnormally high blood calcium caused by cancer. They are also used to reduce skeletal complications in people with multiple myeloma or bone metastases from solid tumors. Treatment is medically supervised because kidney function, calcium levels, hydration and other clinical factors can affect safe use.

How it works

Zoledronic acid is a bisphosphonate that inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Osteoclasts normally break down old bone as part of the body's bone-remodelling process. When their activity is excessive, calcium can be released from bone and bones can become more vulnerable to complications. Zoledronic acid binds strongly to bone and suppresses osteoclast activity. This reduces excessive bone breakdown and helps control cancer-related hypercalcemia and skeletal complications associated with malignant bone disease.

How it is taken

Bdolenic is given intravenously by a healthcare professional and should not be self-administered. For zoledronic acid 4 mg/5 mL concentrate formulations, prescribing information requires dilution before intravenous infusion and an infusion duration of at least 15 minutes. The appropriate dose and treatment interval depend on the indication and kidney function. Calcium-containing or other divalent-cation infusion solutions, including Lactated Ringer's solution, must not be mixed with zoledronic acid.

Important warnings

Zoledronic acid must not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to the medicine or formulation components. Kidney toxicity, including renal failure, can occur; renal function should be assessed and serum creatinine monitored as clinically required, particularly in patients with renal impairment, dehydration or exposure to nephrotoxic medicines. Hypocalcemia should be corrected before treatment, with calcium and vitamin D supplementation used when indicated. Osteonecrosis of the jaw has been reported, so dental assessment before treatment is important, particularly in patients with cancer or dental risk factors. Severe bone, joint or muscle pain and atypical femoral fractures can occur. Seek medical assessment for persistent thigh or groin pain or symptoms suggesting severe hypocalcemia. Aminoglycosides, loop diuretics and nephrotoxic medicines can increase specific treatment risks.

Side effects and monitoring

Common adverse effects reported with zoledronic acid 4 mg formulations include nausea, fatigue, anemia, bone pain, constipation, fever, vomiting and shortness of breath. Serious or less common problems include kidney injury, severe hypocalcemia, osteonecrosis of the jaw, severe musculoskeletal pain, hypersensitivity reactions and atypical femoral fractures. Kidney function and serum electrolytes, including calcium, should be monitored as clinically appropriate. Urgent medical assessment is appropriate for severe allergic symptoms, markedly reduced urination, severe muscle spasms or tingling suggesting low calcium, or new persistent thigh or groin pain.

Pregnancy

Zoledronic acid can cause fetal harm based on its mechanism of action and animal studies. Pregnancy status should be checked before treatment in females of reproductive potential, and effective contraception is advised during and after treatment because bisphosphonates can remain incorporated in bone for a prolonged period.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is not advised during and after treatment with the oncology 4 mg zoledronic acid formulation. It is not known whether zoledronic acid enters human milk, but the medicine remains bound to bone and may be released for a prolonged period, creating a potential risk of serious adverse reactions in a breastfed child.

Food and drink

No specific food interaction was verified for this intravenous product. Adequate hydration is important, particularly around treatment, unless fluid intake has been restricted for another medical reason. Calcium and vitamin D supplementation may be required according to the indication and prescriber's instructions.

Storage

Store below 30°C. Product-specific Indian medicine information for Bdolenic states this storage condition. Follow the temperature and handling instructions printed on the supplied vial/carton and do not use the product if storage requirements have not been maintained.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need blood tests before a zoledronic acid infusion?

Kidney function, calcium and other electrolytes may need checking because zoledronic acid can affect the kidneys and lower blood calcium. Monitoring helps the healthcare team identify important risks before and during treatment.

Can I have dental work while receiving zoledronic acid?

Tell your dentist that you receive zoledronic acid. Osteonecrosis of the jaw is an uncommon but serious complication, and a preventive dental examination is recommended before treatment; invasive dental procedures should be avoided during treatment when possible.

Why might I feel flu-like after a zoledronic acid infusion?

Fever, fatigue and bone or muscle discomfort are recognized adverse effects of zoledronic acid. Contact your healthcare professional if symptoms are severe, persistent or accompanied by other concerning symptoms.

How long does a zoledronic acid infusion take?

The 4 mg intravenous formulation should be infused over at least 15 minutes. It must be administered by a healthcare professional rather than self-injected.

Do I need calcium and vitamin D while receiving zoledronic acid?

They may be required because zoledronic acid can lower blood calcium. The prescribing information recommends calcium and vitamin D supplementation for relevant patients, but the appropriate supplementation should be determined by the treating healthcare professional.

Why is kidney function important with Bdolenic?

Zoledronic acid is cleared through the kidneys and can cause renal toxicity. Kidney function is therefore assessed when clinically appropriate, and treatment may need modification or avoidance in significant renal impairment.

Can I receive another bisphosphonate while using zoledronic acid?

Do not use another zoledronic-acid product or bisphosphonate unless the treating clinician specifically determines it is appropriate. Duplicate treatment can increase the risk of adverse effects.

Can Cheap Generic Med ship Bdolenic to the United States?

Cheap Generic Med serves the United States under its international shipping model. Delivery is typically estimated at 10–14 business days after dispatch, but customs or carrier delays may extend transit; prescription and personal-import requirements may also apply.

Will my international order have tracking?

Tracked international shipping is used under the standard Cheap Generic Med fulfilment model. A tracking number should be provided after dispatch, although it may take 24–72 hours before movement appears in the carrier system.
