Medicine overview

Ronal 60 Mg Tablet contains raloxifene, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). It is an oral medicine primarily used to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Raloxifene acts like estrogen in bone tissue, helping reduce the bone loss that can occur after menopause. The active ingredient is also used in selected postmenopausal women to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer, although it is not a treatment for established breast cancer.

What it is used for

Ronal 60 Mg Tablet is used for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis after menopause. By helping maintain bone density, raloxifene reduces the risk of vertebral fractures associated with osteoporosis. Raloxifene is also indicated to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis or are considered at high risk for invasive breast cancer. It is not indicated to treat breast cancer or prevent recurrence of existing breast cancer.

How it works

Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator, meaning it can act like estrogen in some tissues while blocking estrogen effects in others. In bone, it has an estrogen-like effect that reduces bone resorption, the process in which bone tissue is broken down. This helps maintain bone mineral density after menopause. In breast tissue, raloxifene blocks certain estrogen effects, which explains its role in reducing the risk of some estrogen-responsive invasive breast cancers.

How it is taken

Raloxifene 60 mg tablets are taken by mouth. The verified prescribing information specifies 60 mg once daily and states that the tablet may be taken at any time of day, with or without food. Follow the prescribed treatment plan rather than changing or stopping treatment independently. For osteoporosis, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake should be considered when dietary intake is insufficient.

Important warnings

Do not use raloxifene if you have an active or previous venous thromboembolism, including deep-vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or retinal vein thrombosis. Raloxifene increases the risk of venous blood clots and carries a warning about increased risk of death from stroke in postmenopausal women with coronary heart disease or increased risk of major coronary events. Prolonged immobility further increases clot risk; treatment is generally stopped at least 72 hours before and during prolonged immobilization when directed by the prescriber. Seek urgent medical care for unexplained leg swelling or pain, sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing blood, or sudden vision changes. Pregnancy is contraindicated. Cholestyramine and similar anion-exchange resins can substantially reduce raloxifene absorption, and systemic estrogen therapy is not recommended with raloxifene. Patients taking warfarin or related anticoagulants may require closer prothrombin time/INR monitoring when raloxifene is started or stopped. Caution is required with hepatic or renal impairment.

Side effects and monitoring

Common adverse effects include hot flashes, leg cramps, peripheral edema, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, and increased sweating. The most important serious adverse effect is venous thromboembolism, including deep-vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism; retinal vein thrombosis has also been reported. Urgent assessment is needed for symptoms suggesting a blood clot, pulmonary embolism, stroke, or sudden visual disturbance. Any unexplained vaginal bleeding or breast abnormality should also be evaluated. Patients using raloxifene for breast-cancer risk reduction should continue appropriate breast examinations and mammography. Warfarin users may require closer coagulation monitoring when raloxifene is started or stopped.

Pregnancy

Raloxifene is contraindicated during pregnancy and is not intended for women who may become pregnant. Exposure during pregnancy may cause fetal harm. If pregnancy occurs during treatment, medical advice should be obtained promptly.

Breastfeeding

Raloxifene is not indicated for women of reproductive potential. It is not known whether raloxifene is present in human milk or what effects it may have on a breastfed infant. Based on its mechanism, it may interfere with estrogen-dependent functions in breast tissue during lactation; use while breastfeeding is therefore not recommended.

Food, drink and interactions

Avoid excessive alcohol intake, particularly when managing osteoporosis, because heavy alcohol consumption can contribute to poor bone health. A specific direct pharmacokinetic interaction between moderate alcohol intake and raloxifene is not established in the verified prescribing information.

Food and drink

Raloxifene may be taken with or without food and at any time of day. There is no requirement to coordinate the tablet with meals. Adequate calcium and vitamin D intake is important in osteoporosis management, and supplementation may be advised when dietary intake is inadequate.

Storage

Store at controlled room temperature, 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F); permitted excursions are 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F). Keep the medicine in a tight container.

Frequently asked questions

Can raloxifene make hot flashes worse?

Yes. Hot flashes are a recognized common adverse effect of raloxifene and are often reported during the first months of treatment.

Does raloxifene increase the risk of blood clots?

Yes. Raloxifene increases the risk of venous thromboembolism, including deep-vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. It must not be used by women with an active or previous venous thromboembolism.

Does raloxifene prevent every type of fracture?

No. Evidence supports a reduction in vertebral fractures, but raloxifene has not demonstrated the same reduction for all other types of osteoporotic fractures.

Is raloxifene a breast cancer treatment?

No. Raloxifene can reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in certain postmenopausal women, but it is not indicated to treat invasive breast cancer or prevent recurrence in women who have already had it.

Can Ronal 60 Mg Tablet be taken with food?

Yes. Raloxifene 60 mg can be taken with or without food and may be taken at any time of day.

What should I do if I need surgery or will be unable to move for a long time?

Tell your prescriber in advance. Because immobility increases the risk of venous blood clots, raloxifene is generally stopped at least 72 hours before and during prolonged immobilization and restarted only when appropriate.

Can I take raloxifene with warfarin?

The combination requires medical supervision. Prothrombin time or INR should be monitored more closely when raloxifene is started or stopped in someone taking warfarin or related anticoagulants.

Can Cheap Generic Med ship Ronal 60 Mg Tablet internationally?

Cheap Generic Med serves multiple international destinations, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, and South Africa. Shipping availability does not guarantee that personal import is permitted; prescription and import requirements depend on the destination and individual circumstances.

Will my Cheap Generic Med order have tracking?

Under the standard international fulfilment model, tracked shipping is used and a tracking number should be provided after dispatch. New tracking numbers can take about 24–72 hours to begin showing movement in the carrier system.
