Medicine overview

A Ret Gel 0.025% is a topical acne medicine containing tretinoin 0.025% w/w. Tretinoin is a retinoid, a vitamin A-related medicine that affects how skin cells develop and are shed. Applied to acne-prone skin, it helps prevent blocked pores and promotes the clearing of comedones such as blackheads and whiteheads. This 0.025% gel is intended for external use on the skin. Irritation, dryness and peeling can occur, particularly during the early stages of treatment.

What it is used for

A Ret Gel 0.025% is used for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris. Tretinoin helps treat acne involving clogged pores and inflammatory lesions by reducing the formation of microcomedones and increasing turnover of cells within hair follicles. Treatment usually requires continued use rather than producing an immediate effect, and acne can temporarily appear worse during the first weeks.

How it works

Tretinoin changes the growth and turnover of epithelial cells within hair follicles. It reduces the tendency of these cells to stick together, which decreases the formation of microcomedones—the tiny plugs that can develop into visible acne lesions. It also increases follicular cell turnover, helping existing comedones move toward the skin surface and clear. These actions help keep pores from becoming blocked and gradually improve acne.

How it is taken

Apply A Ret Gel only to the skin as directed by the prescriber. Gently wash the treatment area with a mild, non-medicated cleanser and allow the skin to dry before application. Apply a thin layer over the affected area rather than using excessive amounts. Keep the gel away from the eyes, mouth, corners of the nose, mucous membranes, sunburned skin and areas affected by eczema. Do not apply more frequently than directed, because extra product can increase irritation without clearing acne faster.

Important warnings

Do not use the product if hypersensitivity to tretinoin or another ingredient is known; discontinue it if a hypersensitivity reaction occurs. Tretinoin can cause marked redness, peeling, dryness, burning or other local irritation. Avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight, sunlamps and tanning beds, and use appropriate sun protection because treated skin may be more sensitive to ultraviolet light. Avoid applying it to sunburned or eczematous skin. Other irritating topical preparations—including certain products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, sulfur, resorcinol or high concentrations of alcohol—should not be added without professional advice. Tretinoin gels containing alcohol are flammable; avoid fire, flames and smoking during application.

Side effects and monitoring

Common effects are local skin reactions such as dryness, redness, peeling, scaling, burning, stinging or irritation. Acne may temporarily worsen during the first few weeks as previously developing lesions become apparent. Severe or persistent irritation requires medical advice and may require reassessment of treatment. Stop using the product and seek medical advice if signs of hypersensitivity develop. Routine laboratory monitoring is not generally part of topical tretinoin acne treatment; clinical response and skin tolerance are monitored instead.

Pregnancy

Topical tretinoin should not be used in pregnancy without medical assessment. Human pregnancy data are limited, and official labeling states that use during pregnancy should occur only when the potential benefit justifies the potential fetal risk. Tell the prescriber if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

Topical tretinoin has not been adequately studied during breastfeeding. Systemic absorption through the skin is low, so LactMed considers topical use a low risk to the nursing infant. Do not apply tretinoin to the nipple or areola, and prevent the infant's skin from contacting treated areas. Discuss use with a healthcare professional while breastfeeding.

Food, drink and interactions

No specific interaction between drinking alcohol and topical tretinoin was verified. However, the gel formulation itself may contain alcohol and can be flammable, so keep it away from fire, flames and smoking during use.

Food and drink

No clinically relevant food or drink interaction is expected from normal topical use. A Ret Gel is applied to the skin rather than taken by mouth.

Storage

Store below 30°C (86°F), keep the tube tightly closed, and keep out of reach of children. Tretinoin gel is flammable; protect it from excessive heat and keep it away from fire, flames and smoking.

Frequently asked questions

Is it normal for my acne to look worse when I first start A Ret Gel?

Yes, acne can temporarily appear worse during the early weeks of tretinoin treatment as previously developing lesions become visible. Improvement usually takes several weeks, but contact your prescriber if the reaction is severe or concerning.

Why is my skin peeling and feeling dry after using tretinoin?

Dryness, peeling, redness and mild burning or stinging are common local effects of topical tretinoin. A gentle cleanser and suitable moisturizer may help, while severe or persistent irritation should be discussed with your prescriber.

Can I use moisturizer while using A Ret Gel?

Yes. A moisturizer may be used to help manage tretinoin-related dryness. Choose non-irritating skin products and avoid adding potentially irritating acne treatments unless your healthcare professional recommends them.

Do I need sunscreen while using A Ret Gel?

Yes. Tretinoin-treated skin can be more sensitive to sunlight. Limit unnecessary UV exposure and use protective clothing and an appropriate sunscreen when outdoors.

Can I put A Ret Gel only on individual pimples?

Tretinoin is generally applied as a thin layer over the acne-affected treatment area as directed, rather than simply adding a large amount to individual spots. Using more medicine does not make acne clear faster and can increase irritation.

How quickly does tretinoin 0.025% gel work?

Improvement is gradual. Some effects may become noticeable after 2–3 weeks, but more than 6 weeks can be needed before definite improvement is seen.

Can I use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid with A Ret Gel?

Do not add these products without checking with your healthcare professional. Benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and other irritating topical treatments can increase skin irritation or require specific timing when used with tretinoin.

Does Cheap Generic Med ship A Ret Gel internationally?

Cheap Generic Med serves multiple international destinations, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. Shipping availability does not guarantee that personal import is permitted, and local prescription or customs requirements may apply.

Will my Cheap Generic Med order have tracking?

Under the standard fulfilment model, tracked international shipping is used and a tracking number should be provided after dispatch. New tracking numbers can take 24–72 hours to show movement in the carrier system.
