Important warnings
Do not take tadalafil with nitrates such as nitroglycerin or isosorbide medicines because the combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. It is also contraindicated with guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat. Tell the prescriber about heart or blood-pressure problems, kidney or liver impairment, previous serious vision problems, bleeding disorders, penile deformity, or conditions that increase the risk of prolonged erections. Alpha-blockers, blood-pressure medicines, strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole or ritonavir, and CYP3A4 inducers such as rifampin can interact with tadalafil. Common effects include headache, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, nasal congestion, flushing, and pain in the limbs. Less common but potentially serious reactions include prolonged or painful erection, severe hypotension, sudden vision loss associated with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), and sudden decrease or loss of hearing. Seek urgent medical attention for an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing changes, chest pain, fainting, or signs of a serious allergic reaction.
