Medicine overview

Fertigyn HP 5000 IU Injection contains 5000 IU of highly purified human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone with actions similar to luteinizing hormone (LH). It is supplied as a lyophilized injectable preparation and may be administered by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. The medicine is used in fertility treatment to help trigger ovulation and has selected uses in males when stimulation of testicular hormone production is clinically required. It should be used under medical supervision.

What it is used for

Fertigyn HP 5000 IU may be used to induce final follicular maturation and ovulation in selected women undergoing fertility treatment. Human chorionic gonadotropin also stimulates testicular function and may be prescribed in certain males with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism or delayed puberty. The appropriate use depends on the underlying condition, hormone status, and specialist assessment.

How it works

Human chorionic gonadotropin acts in a similar way to luteinizing hormone (LH), one of the body's reproductive hormones. In women, it stimulates the final maturation of an ovarian follicle and helps trigger release of the egg. In males, hCG stimulates Leydig cells in the testes to produce androgens such as testosterone. These hormonal effects account for its established roles in fertility treatment and selected disorders of gonadal function.

How it is taken

Fertigyn HP 5000 IU is an injection intended for intramuscular or subcutaneous administration after appropriate preparation of the lyophilized medicine. The timing of hCG can be particularly important during fertility treatment, so it should be administered exactly as directed by the treating clinician. The required dose, timing, number of injections, and any accompanying fertility medicines depend on the indication and treatment protocol. Do not create or change an injection schedule without medical instructions.

Important warnings

Do not use hCG in people with known hypersensitivity to human gonadotropins or product ingredients. In women receiving fertility treatment, ovarian enlargement and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) can occur; severe OHSS may cause marked abdominal or pelvic pain, rapid weight gain, vomiting, breathing difficulty, reduced urine output, fluid accumulation, or thromboembolic complications and requires prompt medical assessment. Fertility treatment can also increase the chance of multiple pregnancy. Treatment requires particular caution or may be unsuitable with certain hormone-dependent tumors, unexplained vaginal bleeding, uncontrolled thyroid, adrenal or pituitary disorders, or reproductive abnormalities incompatible with pregnancy. In males, hCG-induced androgen production can cause fluid retention; caution is required in people with cardiac or renal disease, epilepsy, migraine, or asthma. hCG can also interfere with some hormone laboratory tests.

Side effects and monitoring

Common or recognized effects of hCG include injection-site pain, redness, swelling, bruising or itching, headache, fatigue, irritability, restlessness, mood changes and edema. Women may experience breast tenderness, abdominal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, ovarian enlargement or ovarian cysts, particularly in association with ovarian stimulation. Males may develop gynecomastia or water and sodium retention, while boys treated for delayed puberty may develop signs of precocious puberty. Serious reactions include severe OHSS, thromboembolism and systemic hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis. Seek urgent medical attention for severe or rapidly worsening abdominal swelling or pain, breathing difficulty, rapid weight gain, markedly reduced urination, chest pain, leg swelling, or symptoms of a severe allergic reaction. Fertility treatment generally requires clinical and ovarian monitoring as directed by the specialist.

Pregnancy

Human chorionic gonadotropin is used to induce ovulation before conception but should not be used as an ovulation-induction treatment once pregnancy is established. Gonadotropin-assisted conception carries an increased risk of multiple pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs during fertility treatment, further use should follow specialist instructions.

Breastfeeding

It is not established whether chorionic gonadotropin is excreted in human milk. Breastfeeding use should therefore be discussed with the treating clinician, taking into account the need for treatment and potential effects on the breastfed child.

Food and drink

No food-related administration requirement was verified for this injectable product.

Storage

Store refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze. Product-specific handling instructions for the reconstituted solution should be followed exactly; a verified storage period after reconstitution was not identified for Fertigyn HP 5000 IU.

Frequently asked questions

What side effects might I notice after an hCG trigger injection?

Headache, fatigue, injection-site reactions and abdominal or gastrointestinal symptoms can occur. During ovarian stimulation, increasing abdominal pain or swelling, rapid weight gain, breathing difficulty or reduced urination can indicate ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and needs prompt medical assessment.

Does the timing of Fertigyn HP matter when it is used as a fertility trigger?

Yes. Timing can be important because hCG is used to trigger final follicular maturation and ovulation in relation to other fertility procedures. Use the injection at the time specified by your fertility team rather than changing the timing yourself.

Can a 5000 IU hCG trigger affect a pregnancy test?

Yes. Fertigyn HP contains hCG, the same hormone detected by pregnancy tests, so an injection can temporarily produce a positive result even when pregnancy has not been established. Follow the fertility clinic's instructions about when testing will be meaningful.

Why is hCG used in men as well as women?

hCG has hormone-like activity in both sexes. In males it stimulates testicular Leydig cells to produce androgens such as testosterone, which is why it has selected uses in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and delayed puberty.

Can I inject Fertigyn HP 5000 IU myself?

Only if your treating clinician has specifically instructed you to do so and taught you the correct preparation and injection technique. The product can be administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously, and fertility treatment also requires precise timing.

What symptoms after fertility treatment need urgent medical attention?

Seek prompt medical care for severe abdominal or pelvic pain or swelling, rapid weight gain, persistent vomiting, difficulty breathing, markedly reduced urination, chest pain, leg swelling, or symptoms of a severe allergic reaction. These can occur with serious complications such as severe OHSS, thromboembolism or hypersensitivity.

Does Fertigyn HP need refrigeration?

Yes. Fertigyn HP 5000 Injection is stored at 2°C to 8°C and should not be frozen. Follow the product instructions for handling after reconstitution.

Can Cheap Generic Med ship Fertigyn HP 5000 IU internationally?

Store service is available to multiple international destinations, but product-specific shipment of this refrigerated medicine is NOT VERIFIED. The standard store policy does not establish a verified cold-chain process for Fertigyn HP, so shipping suitability and delivery time should not be assumed.
