Medicine overview

Enthusia 100 Mg is an oral sildenafil tablet used for erectile dysfunction in adult men. Sildenafil belongs to the phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor class. It improves the natural erectile response by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. The 100 mg strength represents the maximum recommended single sildenafil dose for erectile dysfunction; it should only be used when prescribed at that strength and should not be taken more than once in 24 hours.

What it is used for

Enthusia 100 Mg is used to treat erectile dysfunction, meaning difficulty getting or maintaining an erection firm enough for sexual activity. Sildenafil supports an erection only when sexual stimulation is present; it does not automatically cause an erection or increase sexual desire. The use of other sildenafil formulations for pulmonary arterial hypertension should not be treated as an interchangeable indication or dosing regimen for this 100 mg erectile-dysfunction product.

How it works

Sildenafil selectively inhibits phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), an enzyme involved in breaking down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide increases cGMP in erectile tissue. By slowing cGMP breakdown, sildenafil helps smooth muscle relax and allows more blood to enter the penis. This supports the normal erectile response to sexual stimulation rather than producing an erection independently.

How it is taken

Take sildenafil exactly as prescribed. For erectile dysfunction, sildenafil is generally taken as needed approximately 1 hour before sexual activity and may be taken from 30 minutes to 4 hours beforehand. It can be taken with or without food, although a high-fat meal may delay how quickly it starts working. Do not take sildenafil more than once in 24 hours. Do not take extra tablets if the expected effect does not occur.

Important warnings

Do not use sildenafil with nitrates or nitric oxide donors, including medicines such as nitroglycerin, because the combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. Do not use it with the guanylate cyclase stimulator riociguat. Sildenafil is also contraindicated in people with hypersensitivity to sildenafil or tablet ingredients. Cardiovascular fitness for sexual activity should be considered in people with significant heart disease. Use requires particular caution with alpha-blockers, blood-pressure medicines, ritonavir and other strong CYP3A4 inhibitors because sildenafil exposure or blood-pressure effects may increase. Do not combine it with other PDE5 inhibitors or erectile-dysfunction treatments unless specifically directed. Seek urgent medical care for an erection lasting longer than 4 hours, sudden vision loss, or sudden reduction or loss of hearing.

Side effects and monitoring

Common side effects include headache, flushing, indigestion or upset stomach, nasal congestion, abnormal or blurred vision, nausea, dizziness, back pain, muscle pain and rash. Serious or less common reactions include prolonged erection or priapism, sudden vision loss associated with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, sudden hearing decrease or loss, symptomatic low blood pressure and serious cardiovascular events in susceptible patients. Obtain urgent medical attention for an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden loss of vision or hearing, fainting, or severe chest symptoms. Routine laboratory monitoring is not generally specified for sildenafil used as needed for erectile dysfunction.

Pregnancy

Sildenafil tablets for erectile dysfunction are not indicated for use in females. There are insufficient pregnancy data for this erectile-dysfunction use to establish drug-associated developmental risk in pregnant women.

Breastfeeding

Sildenafil tablets for erectile dysfunction are not indicated for use in females. Limited evidence indicates that sildenafil and its active metabolite can enter human milk, but information about effects on a breastfed infant or milk production is insufficient.

Food, drink and interactions

Avoid excessive alcohol when using sildenafil. Drinking heavily can make it more difficult to obtain an erection and may increase problems such as dizziness or light-headedness. A controlled study with sildenafil 50 mg did not show an additional blood-pressure-lowering effect from a moderate experimental alcohol exposure in healthy volunteers, but this does not establish safety with heavy drinking or with the 100 mg product in every patient.

Food and drink

Sildenafil may be taken with or without food. A high-fat or large meal can delay the start of its effect, so timing may be less predictable after such a meal.

Frequently asked questions

Does sildenafil work if I am not sexually aroused?

No. Sildenafil supports the natural erectile response and requires sexual stimulation to help produce an erection.

How long before sex should I take Enthusia 100 Mg?

Sildenafil is generally taken about 1 hour before sexual activity, although it may be taken from 30 minutes to 4 hours beforehand. Follow the timing prescribed for you.

Can a heavy meal make sildenafil take longer to work?

Yes. Sildenafil can be taken with or without food, but a high-fat meal can delay its onset.

What should I do if 100 mg does not work the first time?

Do not take an extra dose or take more than one dose in 24 hours. Timing, food and sexual stimulation can affect the response; persistent problems should be discussed with the prescriber rather than changing the dose yourself.

Is headache or facial flushing normal with sildenafil?

These are among the commonly reported side effects. Seek medical advice if they are severe, persistent or accompanied by concerning symptoms such as fainting, chest symptoms, sudden vision changes or hearing loss.

Can I take Enthusia with nitroglycerin or other nitrate medicines?

No. Sildenafil must not be combined with nitrates or nitric oxide donors because blood pressure can fall dangerously.

What if my erection lasts more than 4 hours?

Get emergency medical treatment immediately. A prolonged erection can permanently damage penile tissue if it is not treated promptly.

Can I drink alcohol while taking sildenafil?

Avoid excessive alcohol. Heavy drinking can worsen erectile function and may contribute to dizziness or light-headedness while using sildenafil.

Is Enthusia 100 Mg a prescription medicine?

Yes. Sildenafil is classified as a Schedule H prescription drug in India.
