Medicine overview

Fertigyn HP 10000 IU Injection contains highly purified human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a gonadotropin hormone. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder for injection and is used under medical supervision in reproductive and hormonal treatment. In women receiving fertility treatment, hCG can trigger final follicular maturation and ovulation. In selected males with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, it stimulates the testes to produce testosterone and supports reproductive function. The product is intended for intramuscular or subcutaneous administration.

What it is used for

Fertigyn HP 10000 IU is used as part of specialist-managed fertility and reproductive hormone treatment. In women, hCG may be given after adequate follicular development to trigger final maturation of the egg and ovulation. Chorionic gonadotropin is also used in selected males with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, where insufficient pituitary gonadotropin stimulation results in reduced testicular function. The exact indication and treatment protocol must be determined by a clinician.

How it works

Human chorionic gonadotropin acts similarly to luteinizing hormone (LH), one of the hormones involved in normal reproductive function. In women, an hCG injection can reproduce the effect of the natural LH surge and promote final maturation and release of an egg from the ovary. In males with appropriate forms of hypogonadism, hCG stimulates Leydig cells in the testes, increasing testosterone production. Its effects therefore depend on the patient's underlying reproductive condition and treatment plan.

How it is taken

Fertigyn HP 10000 is an injectable medicine and should be used exactly according to the fertility or hormone-treatment protocol prescribed by the treating clinician. The product is lyophilized and must be reconstituted appropriately before injection. Fertigyn HP 10000 packaging identifies intramuscular and subcutaneous use. Timing is particularly important during fertility treatment, so patients should not independently change the dose, injection time, route, or treatment schedule.

Important warnings

Do not use chorionic gonadotropin after a previous serious hypersensitivity reaction to hCG or other human gonadotropins. In women undergoing fertility treatment, hCG can contribute to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), ovarian enlargement or cyst complications, multiple pregnancy, and thromboembolic events. Urgent medical assessment is needed for severe or persistent abdominal or pelvic pain, marked abdominal swelling, rapid weight gain, severe nausea or vomiting, reduced urination, breathing difficulty, chest pain, or leg swelling. Treatment requires appropriate assessment and monitoring of ovarian response. Chorionic gonadotropin can promote androgen production and fluid retention; caution is appropriate in people with cardiac or renal disease, hypertension, epilepsy, migraine, or asthma. hCG can also interfere with some gonadotropin laboratory tests and pregnancy testing. It is not an established treatment for obesity or weight loss.

Side effects and monitoring

Common or reported effects of chorionic gonadotropin include injection-site pain or reactions, headache, fatigue, irritability, restlessness, mood changes, and fluid retention. In males, gynecomastia (breast enlargement) can occur. Serious reactions include hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis, OHSS in women receiving fertility treatment, ovarian cyst rupture, thromboembolic events, and complications associated with multiple pregnancy. Seek prompt medical attention for breathing difficulty, facial or throat swelling, severe abdominal pain or swelling, persistent vomiting, faintness, chest pain, shortness of breath, or swelling or pain in a leg. Fertility treatment generally requires clinical and ovarian monitoring before hCG is administered.

Pregnancy

Fertigyn HP may be used to trigger ovulation as part of treatment intended to achieve pregnancy, but hCG treatment is not generally indicated once pregnancy has been established. If pregnancy is confirmed or suspected after fertility treatment, further use should be discussed with the treating fertility specialist.

Breastfeeding

It is not known whether chorionic gonadotropin is excreted in human milk. Use during breastfeeding should therefore be discussed with the treating clinician before administration.

Food and drink

No food-related administration requirement applies because Fertigyn HP 10000 is given by injection.

Storage

Store Fertigyn HP 10000 refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the timing of my hCG trigger injection matter?

In fertility treatment, hCG is used to reproduce the hormonal signal that promotes final egg maturation and ovulation. The injection therefore needs to be given at the time specified by the fertility team rather than moved to another time without their advice.

Can Fertigyn HP 10000 cause ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome?

Yes. OHSS is an important potential complication when hCG is used with medicines that stimulate the ovaries. Severe abdominal pain or swelling, rapid weight gain, persistent vomiting, reduced urination, or breathing difficulty requires prompt medical assessment.

Does an hCG injection make a pregnancy test positive?

It can. Pregnancy tests detect hCG, so injected hCG may temporarily interfere with testing and produce a positive result even before pregnancy can be reliably established. Follow the fertility clinic's instructions about when to test.

Is Fertigyn HP 10000 only used for women?

No. Chorionic gonadotropin is also used in selected males with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism because it can stimulate the testes to produce testosterone. The reason for treatment and regimen require medical assessment.

Can I inject Fertigyn HP 10000 myself?

Use it only according to the instructions and training provided by your healthcare professional. The product requires correct reconstitution and injection technique, and the prescribed timing can be particularly important during fertility treatment.

What symptoms after an hCG fertility injection need urgent attention?

Seek prompt medical care for severe abdominal or pelvic pain, marked abdominal swelling, rapid weight gain, persistent vomiting, reduced urination, shortness of breath, chest pain, or leg pain or swelling. These can be warning signs of severe OHSS or a thromboembolic complication.

Does Cheap Generic Med ship Fertigyn HP 10000 internationally?

NOT VERIFIED

How should Fertigyn HP 10000 be kept before use?

Keep it refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C and do not freeze it. Follow the product packaging and dispensing instructions for handling and storage after reconstitution.
