Sildenafil blocks PDE5, the enzyme that normally breaks down cGMP. This allows the cGMP signal to persist longer and supports the blood-flow changes needed for an erection. Sexual stimulation is still required for sildenafil to work.

How it is taken
Take Abhiforce 100 mg only as prescribed. General sildenafil guidance for erectile dysfunction allows administration from about 30 minutes to 4 hours before sexual activity, with approximately 1 hour before activity commonly advised. It should not be taken more than once per day. Sildenafil may be taken with or without food, although a high-fat meal can delay how quickly it starts working. The 100 mg strength is the maximum recommended dose and should not be increased without medical direction.
Important warnings
Do not use sildenafil with nitrates or nitric oxide donors, including medicines used for angina, because the combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure. It is also contraindicated with guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat and in people with hypersensitivity to sildenafil or tablet ingredients. Medical assessment is important if sexual activity is inadvisable because of cardiovascular disease. Alpha-blockers, blood-pressure medicines, ritonavir and other strong CYP3A4 inhibitors can increase the risk of hypotension or excessive sildenafil exposure. Combining sildenafil with other PDE5 inhibitors or erectile-dysfunction treatments is not recommended without medical supervision. Seek urgent care for an erection lasting more than 4 hours, sudden loss or reduction of vision, sudden hearing loss, fainting, or serious allergic symptoms.
Side effects and monitoring
Common effects include headache, flushing, indigestion, abnormal or altered vision, nasal congestion, dizziness, nausea, back pain, muscle pain, and rash. Serious or less common problems include priapism, marked low blood pressure, sudden vision loss associated with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), sudden hearing decrease or loss, cardiovascular events, and severe allergic reactions. Obtain urgent medical attention for an erection lasting longer than 4 hours, sudden vision or hearing changes, chest pain, fainting, or severe allergy symptoms. Routine laboratory monitoring is not generally specified for sildenafil used for erectile dysfunction, but medical review may be needed based on cardiovascular status, other medicines, kidney function, or liver function.
